Change of heart…

Change of heart??

I did enjoy this book and I’m interested to hear from you IYBC! Did anyone see things in a different light? Are there those of you who totally agree or disagree with Professor Banks, or are you in the middle of the road?

I think who we love is a personal decision and color shouldn’t be hindrance. Growing up the way I did, I learned to look at the person within. I am far from naive to the way the world is obsessed with black and white, but I CHOOSE to transcend the madness.  I would hate for anyone to let the amount of melanin in a person’s skin keep them from finding true love. And if helping the black race is a by product, then that is a definitely a plus.

I enjoyed the book, I did not agree with some of the content but it was a excellent read. It is a subject that needed to be “released” especially with black women. This is not “bashing” black men just because we speak the truth, which is “reality” to some women. I totally agree with “originalbrickhouse” don’t let Melanin be a factor in love. Mr.Banks thank you for writing this book, I have the “rare” oppertunity to hear another point of view, and I welcome yours.

I would like to say to black men if you see a black woman out with a man other than black don’t get upset and feel we don’t love or support you, maybe we are smiling because we have found love and joy in a healthy, mature relationship that nurtures the essence in us and really isn’t that what you desire for us in the first place?
